Learning from the Overflow

Three of my top five CliftonStrengths are Learner, Input, and Intellection.

Translation: I love to learn a lot and about a wide range of topics.

My neurodivergent traits of special interests and hyperfocus create an intense desire to learn about subjects that pique my interest. I'm usually reading several books at a time.

Seymour Papert said, “Children learn best when they are actively engaged in constructing a personally meaningful artefact which they can share with others.”

This is definitely how I approach my learning endeavors. I learn best when I create artifacts about what I learned to share with others.

Videos. Workshops. PDFs. Books. Games. Spreadsheets.

The subject matter and output possibilities are endless.

Whether I’m recording a video, preparing a new resource, or speaking, you can expect several things to be true.

  • I'm having fun. I love creating content from what I've learned, and the enthusiasm shows through.
  • I distill hours of research and learning into an experience that is practical, understandable, and inspirational.
  • When I'm teaching, the learning is not passive. Participants engage with the material in hands-on, engaging ways.
  • Participants leave with practical tools and techniques they can use immediately.
