Michele — Understanding How She Thinks and Finally Feeling Like She Fits In
Client Background
Michele joined the six-week Flourishing with ADHD Seminar because she wanted knowledge and practical tools she could use moving forward.
She does not have an ADHD diagnosis, but she had begun noticing patterns that made her curious. At times, she found it increasingly difficult to focus. At other times, she could become intensely focused on something for long periods. She wanted to better understand what she was experiencing and how her brain seemed to work.
The Challenge
Michele describes her mind as constantly racing. Ideas and thoughts can jump quickly from one thing to another, sometimes making it difficult for others to follow where she is going.
Before the seminar, she didn't necessarily have a framework for understanding these patterns. They were simply part of how she operated. Because she was still making sense of her own experience, she also wasn't sure whether she would relate to the others in the group or feel like she belonged there.
The Coaching Process
Over six weeks, Michele learned more about ADHD and explored tools and strategies alongside others who recognized many of the same experiences in themselves. As she learned, she began recognizing her own patterns in a new way.
Instead of simply noticing that her attention shifted, her mind raced, or she thought differently from other people, she began developing language for what she was experiencing and greater awareness of how she naturally thinks and works.
She also shared what she was learning with her son, who has similar tendencies. The concepts resonated with him as well, creating opportunities for them to understand their experiences together.
Turning Point or Insight
One of Michele's most important realizations was that it's okay to be different. She came to recognize that thinking outside the box isn't something she needs to correct. It's simply her normal.

That understanding changed the way she viewed herself. Rather than measuring herself against how she thought she was supposed to think or function, she could begin to appreciate how her mind works while also recognizing that she wasn't alone in experiencing the world this way.
The Outcome
Michele left the seminar with greater understanding of herself and more grace for the way she thinks and works. That awareness has also helped her communicate more effectively because she can recognize what is happening when her thoughts move quickly or jump between ideas.
But perhaps one of the most meaningful outcomes was the sense of belonging she experienced in the group. What began with uncertainty about whether she would fit in became the realization that she had found people who understood her.
In Her Words
“I wasn’t sure I would fit in at first, but the more we learned, the more I realized this was exactly what I needed to hear. I found my tribe and learned that it’s okay to be different. Thinking outside the box is my normal.”
